If I become a famous poet,
I won't be remembered.

The blushing crows
Land on my clothes.
They tease my ears
With regrets and fears.
So I suppose
This is how my life goes.
Purples, blues, greens, yellows…
It's something that I never chose.
My eyes squeeze shut.

I mend and stitch
The holes and splits–

And the ones you stretched.

As much as she doesn't mean to him he means to her.
Time shared with him is kissing, sex, and good impressions. There are hardly laughs or smiles towards the end, only forced conversation, undressing, and silence. Like the roaring waves of a tempest he pushes himself against her, into her and frightens her with his strength and his coldness.
She watches him with affection as his eyes glaze over her legs in public, thinking that he finds her beautiful. But she avoids eye contact, knows deep down that he's only picking out her imperfections, taking the time to find anything that dissatisfies him.

Adding to favorites, still thinking about this. The logical contradiction between "belonging" and "leading" can lead us to think the subject described is more rational than her peers. But "role" - esp. "leading role" - implies strongly that reason and emotion might not be the dualism that defines the speaker or her peers. Imitation, acting, being a part of an organization - yeah, that might involve emotion or reason, but it brings into play a whole other set of issues.
